10月1日，受中國(guó)政府邀請(qǐng)，葛興福博士到北京參加70周年國(guó)慶慶典觀禮， 百感交集、心緒難平。他提筆寫下本文，對(duì)中國(guó)人民在短時(shí)間內(nèi)取得的巨大成就表示由衷欽佩，并表達(dá)對(duì)中國(guó)美好的祝愿。
 

 

　　On October 1st I had the great honor to join the 70 Years‘ Celebrations of People’s Republic of China. After having received the Chinese Friendship Award last year this invitation of the Chinese Government was a further highlight in my life. It was an exceptional event prepared and presented by our chinese friends with devotion, creativity, perfection and love to their country. I was the only mail invited person from Shenyang. Other two persons were ladies from USA and South Korea working for social charity in Shenyang.
 

　　10月1日，我非常榮幸地參加了中華人民共和國(guó)70成立典。在去年獲得中國(guó)友誼獎(jiǎng)之后，此次中國(guó)政府的邀請(qǐng)是我生命中的又重要時(shí)刻。這是我們的中國(guó)朋友以對(duì)國(guó)家的奉獻(xiàn)、創(chuàng)新、和熱愛(ài)，精心準(zhǔn)備和舉辦的一次盛會(huì)。
 

 

　　With this unforgettable celebration and the messages inside China finally conveyed the ambition to the whole world that it will play an essential global role in future.
 

　　伴隨著這一不可忘懷的慶典和和其中所傳遞的信息，中國(guó)終于向全世界傳達(dá)了雄心壯志：中國(guó)將在未來(lái)發(fā)揮重要的作用。
 

 

　　For the western world there is no other way than understanding, respecting and communicating with China. With its big developing population, increasing academic potential, opening up,  financial power, big market, self consciousness and devotion for improvements China will become the leading power in the world soon. Therefore, instead of searching for what to criticize the western world should identify areas where they could learn from China and cooperate.
 

　　而西方世界必須要理解、尊重中國(guó)并且積極與其溝通。中國(guó)人口眾多，學(xué)術(shù)潛力不斷增強(qiáng)，對(duì)外開(kāi)放程度不斷提高，金融實(shí)力不斷增強(qiáng)，市場(chǎng)規(guī)模不斷擴(kuò)大，自我意識(shí)不斷增強(qiáng)，致力于持續(xù)發(fā)展，不久將成為世界的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力量。因此，西方世界與其費(fèi)力批評(píng)，不如找出可以向中國(guó)學(xué)習(xí)和合作的領(lǐng)域。
 

 

　　I warmly congratulate China to 70th Anniversary, express may admiration to all what they achieved in short time and wish a great future for all Chinese with remarkable contributions to mankind. I am convinced that Chinese will play an important role for establishing peace in the world.
 

　　我衷心祝賀新中國(guó)成立70周年，對(duì)他們?cè)诙虝r(shí)間內(nèi)取得的一切成就表示欽佩，祝愿所有為人類作出貢獻(xiàn)的中國(guó)人有一個(gè)偉大的未來(lái)。我相信，中國(guó)將為世界的和平發(fā)揮重要作用。
 

　　Finally, I say thank you to all my/our chinese friends for beautiful 14 years we have been spending in China. You all are true, honest friends for life.
 

　　后，我要感謝所有我在中國(guó)度過(guò)14年所結(jié)識(shí)的中國(guó)朋友。你們都是我終生真誠(chéng)的朋友。
